I read "A Celtic Odyssey". It is a great book, a bit like philosophy using fantasy to explain itself, but it was never clearly explained - it had sort of a dreamy quality. Very non-traditional, but I liked it.
However, it has something like a spoiler for the Flamel series, so be careful.

EDIT:
I read also "Irish Myths and Legends" (1992) - amazing collection of stories. The legend of Cuchulain is magnificent and the scary stories at the end really chilled me.

I can confirm that there are no spoilers for the Flamel series in A Celtic Odyssey. I wrote it a looooooooooooong time ago; it is probably my second or third published book and one that I would love to do again.

I've a feeling you may be thinking of the character of the Celtic bard who appears in that story and linking him with the Flamel series. But they are not the same.

But I'm delighted you enjoyed the book. There are three great Irish Imranna, or magical voyages. I also did The Navigator, which is the Voyage of St Brendan, and I had plans to write the Voyage of Bran, but it never happened. Well, not yet...!

Best wishes,

Michael

Dear Mr. Scott,
I am sorry for the double post and yes, I was thinking about the bard. From what I read in wikipedia book descriptions, he appears frequently n your books, so I though that he will appear in the Flamel series as well. I was obviously wrong, so I apologize for my misleading post, but which makes me happy, I have not "lost" anything from the Flamel series and have enjoyed "The Celtic Odyssey" as well. I loved the Irish Myths and Legends as well, especially the scary stories. flamelssecret/clap3.gif

I have read Silverhand and Silverlight a couple of times each. I was wondering if there was a chance that the third book would be finished. Each time I read them, I am drawn into their world. Then I finish book two and it seems like they are suspended in flux with no resolution. Please, why has it not been published?

I would love to finish that series. The simple answer is that my collaborator on the project got an offer to write a big historical series and wanted to concentrate on that. The publishers were not interested in Arcana 3: Silverblood with just my name on it, so it drifted. There was a another series, the Etruscans, which she was not interested in finishing either.

However, the rights to the Arcana series have reverted to me, and I had plotted the entire series. So, once I finish Flamel ... then we'll see!

Hello,
I am a HUGE fan of The secrets of the Immortal Nicolas Flamel series, and I can't wait for the next book to come out.
But, as I wait, I wish to read another Michael Scott. What do you sugest until I am able to get the new book? Something for a fan of Mythology used in a creative way.
Please help me!

I think that the easiest one for you to get hold of would be Gemini Game. It's SciFi set slightly in the future about a pair of twin who make computer games. But their new game is virused, and anyone who plays it falls into a coma
so the two have to go into their own game to play it.

Michael.

I grew up reading so many of those books! flamelssecret/love0030.gif flamelssecret/bow.gif

The De Danann Tales, October Moon, Wolf Moon, Gemini Game, The Flamel books more recently, etc. flamelssecret/clap3.gif

I'd love to see the last two De Danann books published, I'd love to find out how it all ends.

I need to find A Celtic Odyssey! I do Classical Studies in school and we just finished the actual Odyssey. Funny coincidence eh since I just found out about this book. flamelssecret/read.gif

Secondhand bookshops in Dublin are wonderful for finding stuff. I'll bide my time.

Born to late. Some of these books are out print. I guess I have to try his later works.

Secondhand bookstores!

I was born too late for some of his earliest stuff, but those places are a goldmine seriously!

I checked every second hand book stores, and every book stores and Library's in London. (thank goodness it's not that big of a city) then I checked St. Thomas, then Windsor, and I'll have a chance to check Toronto next week.

Still nothing. flamelssecret/faint.gif

Oh yes of course, sorry,

I'm looking for the De Dennan tales. Earthlord, firelord.. and ya.

I know that the last three were never published, just seeing his other stories.

Three were published, Windlord, Earthlord and Firelord the two that were not are Sealord and Overlord, and yes they can be quite elusive (and pricey) to find. O'Brien Press published some of Michael's earlier works and do still have some stock, but not of those titles. If you enjoy a sci-fi twist then I'd recommend Gemini Game, or if it's the fantasy realm that you enjoy more i'd recommend October Moon and Wolf Moon. The easiest ones to find are Irish Myths and Legends and Irish Ghosts and Hauntings if that helps?
