can I include picture books in my book count for the year?

I keep looking at all these books everyone is wanting to read and my to read list gets longer every I would bet my book count (or I hope) will be much higher than the bar I set of 3 books a month...

But no more recommendations of book series in process...I don't know how much more "I need the next doesn't come until WHEN" stress I can handle

oh, you know I will read it anyway.....

I LOVE these books! The fourth one (a prequel) is scheduled for publication in May - can't wait for it!

I agree. And the fourth book is fabulous! (Its out on May 13, a couple of weeks before mine.)

Also, check out video on YouTube which Michael Carroll created, rendered and did the music and graphics for. Did it all himself!

Just spotted that there's a competition to win a preview copy of the new Michael Carroll book on his website. I think I've figured out all the answers correctly...

If Michael Scott says the book's good, then I figure it's worth entering the comp - I mean, free book! (if I win!)

[93 days until The Necromancer is published. I can't wait that long! Where's my time-machine...?]

My reading list, as a volunteer at my local Elementary School, consisted of "The Alchemyst", "The Magician" and "The Sorceress". Difference being that I was going to read them all, aloud, to a class of 6th graders. I figured my allotted half an hour, three days a week, should get us very close to the end of "Sorceress" - in a dead heat with the end of the school year.

It was a great success! I finished reading "The Sorceress" just two hours before the 6th grade promotion ceremony! The kids loved the books as much as I do.

Interesting side note for fans of "Jeopardy": The "Final Jeopardy" answer last Monday evening was:

"This planet is named for a ROMAN god, but its two moons are named after the sons of his GREEK counterpart." This was absolutely flawless timing for this subject!

I wrote this answer on the board before the kids got to class the next day, and pulled down the viewing screen to hide it. When the class was ready, I asked if any of them had watched "Jeopardy" the evening before. None of them had. I told them I was going to show them the Final Jeopardy answer, and just to raise their hands when they knew the question. First hand went up about five seconds after I raised the screen, and within ten seconds, every hand in the room was up.

I called on one at random. She answered "What is Mars?"!! Even in the form of a question! For extra credit, I asked about the two moons' names; "Who are Phobos and Deimos?" came the question.

So today, when everybody was signing everybody else's yearbook, I was writing "Don't overload your aura!" They seemed to like that.
